Voluntary habitat support
Land for Wildlife NSW
Free property assessment and habitat-management advice through regional providers, generally for land with at least 0.5 hectares of native vegetation.
Commitment: Voluntary and not legally binding. Registration does not change the property's legal status or put a covenant on title.
Funding: CEN's separate 2026–27 BCT grant allocation is fully allocated. Applications can join a waitlist; program registration itself remains available.

Permanent conservation agreement
Conservation Partners Agreements
BCT conservation support for eligible NSW landholders, generally with at least 20 hectares of native vegetation in moderate to good condition. Smaller high-value sites may be considered.
Commitment: Voluntary to enter, then permanent, registered on title and binding on future owners. Restrictions protect the agreed conservation area.
Funding: No annual management payments. Eligible agreement holders can separately apply for Conservation Partners Grants. Agreement expressions of interest follow regional timing.
Revocable conservation agreement
Wildlife Refuge Agreements
An entry-level agreement for eligible NSW landholders, generally with at least 10 hectares of native vegetation in moderate to good condition. Enquiries are accepted year-round.
Commitment: Registered on title and continues when land is sold, but can be revoked by the landholder. Conservation restrictions apply while it is in place.
Funding: No annual management payments. Eligible holders can apply separately for Conservation Partners Grants, subject to assessment and available funding.
Biodiversity credit pathway
Biodiversity stewardship agreements
Eligible landholders can create biodiversity credits for sale. Assessment costs, credit demand and a site management plan determine suitability; a sale or financial return is not guaranteed.
Commitment: Designed for permanent conservation and registered on title, binding future owners with ongoing management and reporting duties. Review the limited termination provisions before signing.
Funding: The separate Stewardship Support Program closed on 13 September 2026; reopening is expected in 2027. The underlying stewardship pathway remains available.
